Hotfix crystals already have their glue on the backing. This glue is a heat-sensitive glue, which melts under heat, either from a hotfix applicator tool, domestic iron or industrial heat press. Taking into consideration your fanric/surface, you will need to decide if this method is best for you and your use as some fabrics do not like direct heat. However with care and attention this method can still be used.
